Doorstep healthcare for senior citizens in Bihar

Bihar to Provide Doorstep Healthcare for Senior Citizens

Patna: In a major relief for senior citizens, the Government of Bihar has announced that elderly people in the state will soon receive medical care at their doorstep. The initiative, unveiled by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, aims to make healthcare more accessible and dignified for older citizens who often struggle to visit hospitals and clinics.

The decision has been taken under Saat Nischay Part-3, with the guiding principle of “Sabka Samman, Jeevan Aasan” (Respect for All, Making Life Easier). The Chief Minister shared details of the scheme through a social media post on Saturday morning.

Medical care without leaving home

Under the new arrangement, senior citizens in Bihar will be able to access a range of healthcare services from the comfort of their homes. These include routine pathology tests, blood pressure monitoring, ECG examinations, and other basic health checks. In cases where medical attention is urgently required, doctors will visit patients at home, supported by trained nursing staff.

According to the state government, this step will ensure timely treatment for elderly people and significantly reduce the physical and mental strain of travelling to healthcare facilities.

Physiotherapy and emergency support at home

The scheme goes beyond basic check-ups. Facilities such as physiotherapy will also be delivered at home, a move expected to benefit elderly patients suffering from mobility issues, joint pain, or post-illness recovery needs. During emergencies, arrangements are being made to provide prompt medical assistance at home, ensuring that no senior citizen is left without care when it matters most.

Chief Minister’s message

In his post, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that since November 24, 2005, his government has been consistently working to improve the quality of life for people from all sections of society. The goal, he said, is to ensure that every citizen can live a safe, convenient, and respectful life. The home-based healthcare initiative for senior citizens is a continuation of this long-term vision.

Citizens invited to share suggestions

The Chief Minister also invited public participation in shaping government policies. A QR code has been released under the Saat Nischay programme, allowing citizens to share their ideas and suggestions directly with the government. This feedback, officials say, will help further refine measures aimed at making everyday life easier for people.

Doorstep healthcare for senior citizens in Bihar

The state government claims that lakhs of elderly citizens across Bihar will benefit directly from this initiative. With healthcare services reaching their doorsteps, the scheme is being seen as a significant step towards social security, dignity, and improved well-being for senior citizens in the state.
