Madhubani’s Padma Shri Artist Dulari Devi Invited to Rashtrapati Bhavan ‘At Home’ Reception

Madhubani (Bihar): In a proud moment for Bihar’s cultural heritage, Padma Shri awardee and renowned Mithila painting artist Dulari Devi from Madhubani has been invited to attend the prestigious ‘At Home’ reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan on the occasion of Republic Day.

According to sources, the invitation has been sent by the Department of Posts, recognising her contribution to India’s traditional art and culture. Dulari Devi will attend the grand reception scheduled to be held at 4:00 PM on 26 January at the President’s House in New Delhi, where she will be present as a special guest.

A major honour for Mithila painting and Bihar

Dulari Devi is widely known as a master of Mithila (Madhubani) painting, one of India’s most celebrated folk art forms. She was conferred with the Padma Shri in 2021, one of the country’s highest civilian honours, for her remarkable dedication to the art.

At present, she is serving as an Acharya (faculty member) at the Mithila Chitrakala Sansthan, continuing her mission of preserving and promoting this age-old tradition.

Special invitation delivered by postal officials

The special invitation letter was formally presented by officials from the Madhubani Head Post Office, along with local administrative representatives.

Speaking about the invitation, Dulari Devi expressed happiness and said it was a moment of pride not only for her, but also for the entire region and the Mithila art community. She described it as a true recognition of her lifelong artistic practice and dedication.

Cultural showcase at the Republic Day reception

The ‘At Home’ reception is known for its dignified atmosphere, where distinguished guests from across the country are invited to celebrate the spirit of the Republic. The event also features cultural performances and art exhibitions, offering a glimpse of India’s diversity and heritage.

Guests are expected to follow formal protocols, including reporting on time and completing confirmation procedures in advance. Reports also suggest that the National Anthem will be played during the President’s arrival and departure.

Security and entry guidelines are strictly followed at Rashtrapati Bhavan, and guests are advised to carry their invitation and valid identity documents.
